  THE OLD WOODEN CLARINET...
A blind friend: BEV DECKER sat beside me in a little church orchestra in SACRAMENTO, CA. and played Clarinet. I had an old metal clarinet and tried to play it with him...after a few years, I learned a lot. He and his wife: VELMA also taught me BRAILLE for the BLIND. I got a "Slate and Stylus" and began to "write" BRAILLE. NOW a number of years later ( 1951 to now: 2006= 55 years later) BEV has passed away. His Widow VELMA called me one day from SACRAMENTO, CA and asked me a "remarkable question..."Harry, would you like to have BEV's "old wooden clarinet?" "He wanted me to ask you and give it to you"...WOW- that OLD WOODEN Clarinet from the Master Clarinet player, I knew (like Benny Goodman to me or Pete Fountain)....YES! I accepted the offer..! I now have that "Old Clarinet" and play it once in a while...Music just FLOWS from it...what a joy it is to play..! MEMORIES...yes, Ministry...yes! I have used BRAILLE for years for the BLIND. I have "headed up" The Deaf (sign language) and BLIND MINISTRIES of our Denomination on a National level. What is that in your hands? Tomorrow or this week I'll read a poem I wrote about HANDS....(Poetry in Motion) - YES...!

Comments:
AS A CLARINETIST and Woodwind artist...such classic artists as, Benny Goodman and Tony Fountain are images that fill my mind and can relate to your very warm story of THE OLD WOODEN CLARINET. THANK you for sharing your Fireside Memory.

"THE OLD WOODEN CLARINET" is a blue ribbon story for those that have melody in their hearts...what a Storyline..!"

Poetry in action brings color and meaning to life specifically and generally. Psalmist David was a great poet...his poetic writings are many. Poetry is a good "SOUL LANGUAGE".
